Pinoy Mariner as a blog
Pinoy Mariner is a curated repository of insights, news, and discussions encompassing the maritime sector and the Filipino seafaring community. Initially conceived as an online journal chronicling the author’s experiences at sea, the blog soon recognized the demand for a comprehensive guide for aspiring seafarers. Over the years, it has organically evolved into an invaluable resource, catering not only to newcomers but also to seasoned professionals in the field. Additionally, the blog occasionally delves into subjects that resonate with the author’s passions and, at times, those that spark disagreement.
About the author
The author, Anvin Argañosa, holds a license as an Electronics Engineer from Central Philippine University, where he actively practiced his profession at a semiconductor company for approximately three years. However, he made the pivotal decision to redirect his career path towards the maritime industry, pursuing a role as an Electro-Technical Officer. His motivations for this transition are detailed in his article, “Why I changed my career?”
In October 2011, his journey into the world of blogging commenced while he was working as a seafarer for the first time. During this period, he served as a trainee electrician at a reputable shipping agency in the Philippines, where he gathered the essential experiences required for career advancement. His months of training aboard ships served as a wellspring of inspiration, leading him to establish this blog to document his experiences as he advanced in his newly chosen profession.
By November 2011, the author achieved his aspiration of becoming an Electro-Technical Officer. However, this milestone marked just one juncture on his continuous journey. There were more challenges to confront, experiences to embrace, examinations to undertake, and goals to pursue. Life remains endlessly captivating as long as you continue to nurture your dreams.
