How To Apply For A Seaman’s Book Or SIRB
Anyone aspiring on becoming a seafarer or mariner needs a Seaman’s Identification Record Book or Seaman’s Book to land that dream job of yours. So what are the basic steps for new applicants?
Before applying for your SIRB at the office of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), make sure to possess all of these documents first.
- Birth Certificate on Security Paper (SECPA) or Passport
- Valid NBI Clearance (visa seaman)
- Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) Certificate
- Official Receipt of Basic Safety Training (BST) Course
After accomplishing the lists above bring it to the MARINA office, make sure to provide a photocopy of it and at the same time bring the original documents. MARINA is open from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00PM without noon break.
The standard processing time of SIRB for regular applications is 8 hours with a processing fee of PhP800.00. But for those who are in a hurry, you can avail their expedite applications for a fee of PhP1,500.00 and you can have your SIRB within 4 hours.
