Validation Of Exit Clearance Of Seafarers At The Labor Assistance Center
I got this news from the POEA’s website that stated, “Effective November 1, 2011, Filipino seafarers shall be required to have their travel exit clearance validated at the POEA Labor Assistance Centers (LAC) at the airports prior to their departure. Deploying manning agencies are advised to inform their departing seafarers accordingly.” I think I need to share this to my fellow Filipino seafarers to avoid confusion during departure.
Here’s an excerpt from POEA’s Memorandum Circular No. 12, Series of 2011.
TO: All Licensed Manning Agencies
SUBJECT: Validation of Exit Clearance of Seafarers at the Labor Assistance Center
DATE: 22 September 2011In view of the low rate of submission of deployment reports by licensed manning agencies which hampers the timely and accurate generation of data on seafarer deployment, the exemption granted to seafarers from the requirement of validation of exit clearance at the Labor Assistance Center (LAC) covered under Memorandum Circular No. 3 dated 28 February 2011 is hereby recalled.
Henceforth, effective 1 November 2011 , seafarers shall be required to have their travel exit clearance validated at the LAC prior to their departure. Deploying manning agencies are hereby advised to inform their departing seafarers accordingly. They may likewise provide LAC in advance with the list and departure dates of their seafarers for deployment to facilitate the smooth validation of their exit clearance.
