How To Apply for PHP 10,000 Financial Assistance | DOLE-AKAP for OFWs
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued the guidelines on the provision of financial assistance to displaced land-based and sea-based Filipino workers due to COVID-19, known as “DOLE-AKAP for OFWs”.
In order to avail of the USD200 or PHP10,000 financial assistance, there are primary points of DOLE Department Order No. 212, series of 2020 that are to be followed. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) started accepting on-line applications last 13 April 2020.
What are the steps to apply for DOLE-AKAP for OFWs financial assistance?
STEP 1: Log in to http://dole-akap.owwa.gov.ph/.
STEP 2: Fill up the necessary information.
STEP 3: Upload the scanned copies of needed documents. You may also take pictures. Make sure to limit the file size below 1.5MB per document.
STEP 4: Click the “Submit Application” button once all documents have been uploaded.
A notification will pop up, just click “Yes” when you are sure of all the details and documents uploaded.
STEP 5: You’ll receive a “Success” notification once upload is completed.
STEP 6: Wait to receive email notification.
Wait for an email message from OWWA. You’ll find there the reference number. Don’t worry if you did not receive the email right away. I applied last 13 April and I just received the email reply today, 15 April.
STEP 7: Wait for evaluators to contact you.
In my case, I haven’t received any call yet. To be honest I’m not sure if they will grant that financial assistance to everyone. I will update this post once I’ve got an update.
UPDATE: 01 May 2020
I just recently checked my bank account which I used during application for DOLE-AKAP financial assistance and I’m surprised there’s a PhP 10,000 remitted last 29 April 2020. I’m not expecting any money exactly worth PhP 10,000 who knows my bank account except from OWWA. So I assumed it’s from them. I have not received any form of notification from them either.
Tip for those who will apply: make sure to upload the correct and clear copies of documents needed. There are thousands of applicants out there and I believe the number of assessors are limited. They are probably manually checking each document and what do you think will happen if each document you submitted is either incorrect or not clear?
To be honest I did not expect to receive that PhP10,000 cash assistance and I stopped thinking about it after submitting all the required documents. But I’m thankful to OWWA for that much needed assistance.
I wish and hope that you will also receive that cash assistance for your family. Good things do really happen when you least expect them. Keep safe everyone!
